MyFitnessPal Tips
There are plenty of apps designed to make calorie counting and nutritional tracking a piece of cake. But MyFitnessPal always tends to top the charts.
With its huge community of more than 80 million users, most extensive food database and easy-to-use tracking features, it's no surprise that it's one of the top-performing apps, not just in the health and fitness category.
Here, I am sharing my most useful tips and tricks to using the platform. You may be able to use these tips with any tracking app, given that they offer these features. In the event you have questions regarding features of other apps, I might be able to assist you as thoroughly as you need as I am only familiar with mfp.
First: TURN EXERCISE CALORIES OFF!
Allowing MyFitnessPal to track your steps/exercise means that it will adjust your calorie and macronutrient targets throughout the day to counter the activity.
This is MFP’s way of making things cumbersome and confusing! The idea behind flexible dieting, is eating a consistent amount macros and calories each day, then adjusting those numbers to get the desired body goal outcome.
To turn off Exercise Calories:
Tap More at the bottom
Tap Goals and scroll all the way to the bottom
Toggle Exercise Calories to Off
How to set your macro targets in Myfitnesspal:
Tap More >>Goals>>Calorie>>Carbs>> Protein>>Fat Goals.
Set your default goal targets. You can toggle to Grams from % by just tapping on Grams then use the rolodex to set your macro targets.
Once your default targets are selected, hit the Check Mark, then OK to the pop up window.
Set your Diary Dashboard to Macronutrients Focused under Diary Settings. This will count your macros and calories down for you each day at the top of your screen
