TRACKING Your Progress
What Gets Measured, Gets Managed. What Gets Managed, Gets Improved.
Are you working hard to get the body you want, but feeling like you’re stuck in a rut? You’re not alone! Many people who are trying to reach their health and fitness goals seemingly neglect this ONE step that is essential for their success... that is, Tracking Progress Periodically. Getting body measurements, tracking your weight, and taking progress pictures will help you stay accountable and motivated to reach your goals.
Body Measurements
Tracking your body measurements is a great way to get an accurate idea of how your body is changing over time.
It’s easy to get discouraged when you don’t see the scale move. This happens a lot in the beginning because you probably started working out and are building muscle while burning body fat causing your weight to stay relatively the same. But! Since you are getting your body measurements you’ll see the drastic drop inch inches and know that you're right on track even while the number on the scale is being stubborn.
For example, let’s say you’re trying to lose fat but you’re also lifting weights. You might not see much of a change on the scale, but when you measure your waist, hips, thighs, and other areas, you might see that you’re losing inches. This means that you’re losing fat and replacing it with muscle, which is great!
To get an accurate picture of your progress, you should get your measurements every week or two. That way, you’ll be able to track your progress and make adjustments to your diet and exercise plan as needed.
Weight
Tracking your weight is also an important part of staying on track with your fitness goals. It’s important to remember that the number on the scale isn’t the only thing that matters. Your body composition is more important than your total body weight. That being said, tracking your weight can be a helpful way to measure your progress. If your goal is to lose fat, tracking your weight can help you monitor your progress.
If you’re not seeing results or the number on the scale isn’t changing, it might be time to adjust your diet and exercise plan. On the other hand, if you’re trying to gain muscle, tracking your weight can help you ensure that you’re eating enough to fuel your body for heavy workouts.
Progress Pictures
Progress pictures are a great way to track your progress and stay motivated. When you look at a picture of yourself from a few months ago and compare it to a recent picture, you’ll be able to see how far you’ve come. This can be a great source of motivation and will help you stay on track.
When taking progress pictures, it’s important to be consistent. Take the same pictures every week or so in the same lighting and the same outfit. This will give you an accurate picture of your progress. If you’re feeling extra ambitious, you can even take a picture every day and create a flipbook timeline ;)
Tracking your progress periodically is essential if you want to reach your health and fitness goals. It helps you stay on track and motivated. So don’t forget to add your measurements, weight, and pics to your calendar in the app when they pop up. You’ll be surprised at how far you’ve come!
